Isabelle,

You raise some interesting points! It WOULD be very nice if we can be taken care of so nicely by our government - I for one would be appreciative. : )

You make alot of sense... personally, do not like to drink wine, and like you, would be VERY hesitant about ingesting some concentrate pill.

I am now even avoiding vitamin pills, but rather choosing to eat nutritious organic fresh food whenever I can.

And yes, being able to relax with just one or so glasses of wine sounds very pleasurable.

All things in moderation... : )

the French don't have as many heart problems as Americans because they live in a country with very rigid work rules. They hate to work and they strike and avoid work like the plague. They get Social Sec benefits and a lot of them retire at age 50 to play cards. This is NOT a joke. I live in France and this is for real. They are taken care of from birth to death. Medical Care/maternity leave/ child care/ old age care. I am not saying that all this care is of the best quality but I am sure that this helps them not to stress like Americans do. Since they have no work ethic (like all the Anglo Saxons do) they are not competitive. The only people that they stress are high school students whom they threaten and denigrate (is this to prepare them for life?? who knows) and stress with the Bac (Baccalaureate - the official coming of age in France. This yr some 86% of kids rec'd the Bac so I guess they weren't stressing too much.
French people are never in a rush to finish a job...just take your time is their motto....Also, do not forget that every French employee get at least 5 weeks minimum paid holiday per yr in addition to the 9 or 10 yearly holidays like Christmas and New Yrs that everyone gets.
Also, lest I forget, they can take sick leave when ever they want for however long they want (if they are sick or not)...
I think the wine might help but their life style is so different from that of most American that it is simply incomparable....
Personally I would NOT take a pill made out of something synthetic that contains the equivalent of some compound in 1000 bottles of wine...are they crazy? I doubt the French would either - I think they would just prefer sitting down to a nice meal and sharing a glass of wine with friends!
